EyeHome is trying to reach the wrong IP address for my Mac
EyeHome is trying to reach the wrong IP address for my Mac
Solution
When you set up EyeHome, your Mac's IP address is usually detected automatically, using Rendezvous/Bonjour (auto-discovery). It will appear on EyeHome's Connect screen. Select that entry to login to your Mac.
You also have the option to manually add your Mac to EyeHome's Connect screen, and enter the IP address for it. You can find your Mac's IP address in the Network section of the OS X System Preferences.
When you Add or Edit an IP address for EyeHome to use to connect to your Mac, you can select to automatically connect to that Mac when the EyeHome hardware is turned on.
That makes EyeHome easy to use. But, if your Mac's IP address changes, then EyeHome will be automatically connecting to the old, wrong address. When that happens, there will be an error message. You also might notice the wrong IP address, followed by :8000 (EyeHome's port).
To fix this problem, go to the Connect screen for EyeHome. You can press the Login button on the remote (which looks like the head and shoulders of a person) to get to the Connect screen.
Then, Edit the relevant connection to your Mac. You can also turn off automatic connections, if you want to avoid that problem in the future.
In short, the Login button can be used to change what IP address EyeHome is using, to connect to your Mac.
