What are the recording qualities for the EyeTV Hybrid?
Solution
The EyeTV Hybrid has three quality options for analog inputs: VideoCD, Standard and High. The resolution of these three qualities varies slightly, depending on whether the unit is NTSC (North America) or PAL/SECAM (Europe/Australia). High quality is equivalent to DVD resolution (720 by 480 for NTSC, or 720 by 576 for PAL/SECAM).
Only a Dual G5 or Core Duo can record the highest quality of MPEG-2.
EyeTV Hybrid also has a digital tuner (ATSC or DVB-T), which does not encode. It receives pre-encoded MPEG video directly from broadcasters, via an antenna. That content is in either SDTV or HDTV format. In the US, HDTV is 720p or 1080i, and EyeTV Hybrid can receive both.
The 2008 model of EyeTV Hybrid can also receive Clear QAM (unencrypted digital cable).
