Can I use EyeTV Hybrid to digitize old VHS or analog camcorder tapes?
Solution Yes, just connect your video source to EyeTV Hybrid's S-Video or composite RCA video/left/right inputs and hit Play on your source.

If you are using a PAL EyeTV Hybrid, along with a SCART to composite or S-Video adapter, then make sure to use a TV-type adapter (one direction) instead of a VCR-type adapter (two directions).

Since EyeTV Hybrid does not have a hardware MPEG encoder, it cannot use the EyeTV VHS Assistant. Nevertheless, you can still record video from a VCR manually.

The EyeTV Hybrid has three quality options for analog inputs: VideoCD, Standard and High. The resolution of these three qualities varies slightly, depending on whether the unit is NTSC (US) or PAL/SECAM (International). High quality is equivalent to DVD resolution (720 by 480 for NTSC, or 720 by 576 for PAL/SECAM). Only a Dual G5 or Core Duo can record the highest quality of MPEG-2.
