EyeTV devices and visual exterior indicators: What device has LEDs and what do they mean?
Solution This FAQ entry covers only a common range of devices supported in EyeTV.

External devices usually display activity by flashing or blinking one or multiple LEDs.

Grey box shaped devices have dual LED in the front, to display activity (green), launching (yellow) or red (standby or error) states.  Those models are EyeHome, EyeTV 200, EyeTV 300, EyeTV 310, EyeTV 400, EyeTV 410, EyeTV 500 and EyeTV 610.

Brick devices looking like a shrunken Mac Mini (aluminum exterior, rounded edges, white bottom and top) and similar Terratec products have a blue LED in the front. Blue indicates proper powered devices. The devices are Elgato for DTT (Terratec T2), EyeTV EZ (Terratec Cinergy 400), EyeTV 250 (Terratec Cinergy PVR 800e, 850), EyeTV 250 Plus, EyeTV Sat, EyeTV Netstream devices, and Terratec Cinergy S. The Cinergy S, EyeTV Sat, EyeTV 250 and 250 Plus devices require a power supply. The EyeTV HD has a green LED to indicate it is receiving power and an Orange LED to indicate when the device is in use.

Elgatos stick type devices do not have a visual indicator. There is no visual external indication to display activity on Elgato or Hauppauge labeled devices (EyeTV DTT Stick, EyeTV DTT Deluxe, EyeTV Hybrid international, EyeTV Hybrid US, EyeTV Diversity, EyeTV One, Hauppauge Nova T Stick, Hauppauge WinTV HVR 900, 930, 950, 5000). Most of these sticks feature one or multiple holes to catch IR signals from a bundled remote control, but these holes are commonly mistaken as an LED.

One exception is the EyeTV Hybrid (2008 North American model) which does have two indicator lights on one edge.

Elgato Turbo.264 does not have an LED or any other connector than the USB plug on the stick. Elgato Turbo.264 HD does have an LED that illuminates to indicate when the stick is in use.

Products from partners, like for example Terratec and Pinnacle USB stick devices, usually have a LED on the stick. If this LED is offline, please verify that the USB 2.0 port on the Mac is operational.
