What is the difference between EyeTV and a Slingbox?
Solution The EyeTV software, when coupled with a compatible TV tuner, can used to view, record, and archive content in the same manner as a DVR - instead of saving to an external receiver, it connects directly to your Mac. It is an exclusively Mac-based solution that will allow you to view cable, antenna, or satellite TV on your Mac's monitor - fullscreen or as a smaller window while conducting other tasks.

A Slingbox is a hardware solution that allows users to view a television source (cable, antenna, or analog connection) in another location via a computer, cellphone, or other mobile device. It can be used with Mac OS X or Windows. Not all Slingboxes can record content. Slingbox is not an Elgato product. Please read more here: http://www.slingmedia.com/

EyeTV 3 can perform some of the same functions as a Slingbox - EyeTV can be used to view live content and recordings from a remote location using the Live 3G web app or the EyeTV for iPhone/iPad app (available from the iTunes store.) Compare these two applications here.

The EyeTV iPhone app will allow you to view live TV and recorded content from your Mac on your iPhone. This is described in greater detail here.
