 My new EyeTV Hybrid (2009 North America) won't connect via USB
Solution Recently, a few EyeTV Hybrid (2009 North America) units have had problems connecting to the EyeTV software.  There seems to be two primary causes of this issue:

1) The wrong EyeTV software was shipped with the units

2) The units need to be updated by the EyeTV software

What follows are instructions on how to remedy these two problems.





A small number of EyeTV Hybrid (2009 North America) units have recently shipped with older EyeTV 3 software on the CD (EyeTV 3.1).

Using this software, the EyeTV Hybrid won't be able to connect to the USB bus, during the EyeTV Setup Assistant.

Newer EyeTV 3 software will be needed to setup and use these EyeTV Hybrids.

Here is a link to the new EyeTV 3.3 (build 5853), which will work with OS X 10.5 and OS X 10.6:

Copy EyeTV 3.3 from this disk image, and place it on your hard drive. Then, you can erase the disk image (dmg) file.

EyeTV 3.3 (build 5853) should work as expected with EyeTV Hybrid.  It will update the EyeTV Hybrid, and hopefully avoid this connectivity problem. 

If you have an earlier version of EyeTV 3.3, then try this new build 5853 as well.

If things still don't work, then while EyeTV is connected to the USB port, we would like you to send us more information about your Mac, via a Support Ticket:

1) Choose About This Mac from the Apple Menu.
2) Press the More Info... button to start the System Profiler application
3) Select Save As... from the File Menu
4) Save the report as System-Profiler 4.0 (XML) format
5) Attach this file to your support ticket
