This release is now available from the EyeTV menu > Check For Updates.

The build number at the time of release is 3.4.3 (6306).

If that doesn't work, then while EyeTV 3.4.2 is running, please open this link in a web browser:

eyetv://checkforupdates?build=6306

That will download EyeTV 3.4.3 (build 6306). 


What's new in EyeTV 3.4.3?


EyeTV HD Remote Control Learning

EyeTV now supports remote control learning for the EyeTV HD. If you have a set top box that is not supported by the default set of codes, you can learn the codes for your remote control. See below for more details.


Export Wave and AIFF

EyeTV now supports Wave and AIFF as audio-only export formats.

EyeTV HD Infrared Code Learning Tutorial


To get started, open the EyeTV Setup Assistant from the Help Menu. Step through the Setup Assistant until you reach the Choose Receiver panel of the Setup Assistant. In this panel select “My manufacturer is not listed”, and then press the Next button.


Choose “Learn codes” on the next panel and press the Next button again.



Now it’s time to teach EyeTV the codes for your remote control. Hold your set top box remote next to the front of EyeTV HD (aim at the light on the device).  Next, click on each remote button, starting with #1, and hold that button on the remote until EyeTV detects it.  While EyeTV is learning the code, you will see a progress bar and the number of the button being learned.



If EyeTV has learned the code successfully, you will see a green check mark on the learned button. 



Note: Some remote controls can be difficult to learn because of the location of the IR emitter in the remote. If you are having trouble learning the buttons, reposition the remote and try again. You may need to change the distance and angle before the button is learned successfully.

Continue these steps until all buttons have been learned. Once all buttons have a green check mark next to them, press the Next button to continue.

In the next panel, the learned buttons can now be tested. If everything is working correctly after the test, press the Next button and finish the remaining steps of the Setup Assistant.



Note: If you are setting up more than one EyeTV HD, each device will need to be configured separately. The IR codes are stored internally on the device.


Supported Systems


EyeTV 3.4.3 is a Universal application, which works on both Power PC and Intel Macs. An Intel Mac is required for streaming to the iPhone app.

Note that 3.4.x is the last version which will support PowerPC. All future updates will require an Intel Mac.

EyeTV 3.4.3 will work with OS 10.5.8 or better. However, we recommend Mac OS X 10.6.4 or later with all software and security updates installed.


Installation


If this is the first time you have launched any version of EyeTV 3, you will be asked to enter the EyeTV 3 activation key. If you purchased an EyeTV 3 Upgrade product, EyeTV 3 will check whether an EyeTV 2 installation is present on your hard drive. If EyeTV 3 cannot find a previous EyeTV 2 installation, it will ask you to enter an eligible EyeTV 2 activation key as well.

Keep all EyeTV activation keys in a safe place, in case you need to reinstall the EyeTV software. Your activation key is also used to activate and identify your Electronic Program Guide account (see below).

After you activate EyeTV, the EyeTV Setup Assistant will guide you through the complete setup and configuration of EyeTV 3. You should complete each step of the EyeTV Setup Assistant. When prompted, please select your country and let EyeTV auto-tune for channels — this is necessary to ensure the correct initial setup of the built-in Electronic Programming Guide (EPG).
