TitanTV service in EyeTV 2 and EyeTV 3 ends Dec. 31st, 2010
TitanTV service in EyeTV 2 and EyeTV 3 ends Dec. 31st, 2010
Solution
TitanTV
service in
EyeTV
will be ending as of the end of the year.
December 31, 2010 will be the last day that
EyeTV 2
or
EyeTV 3
users can use
TitanTV
data inside of the
EyeTV
application, to create the color coded Program Guide.
This transition is coming 2 full years after we first announced the change from
TitanTV
to
TV Guide
, and we were able to extend that transition until now.
In the past, we told users that the transition would happen in 2010 at the latest. See this article for more details:

Using TitanTV.com with EyeTV
Using the
TitanTV.com
site in a browser should still work - you should be able to click on programs and download the schedules one at at time, like before.
TitanTV Remote Scheduling
should also work as it does now. You can enter your
TitanTV
login information at the bottom of the
Guide
section of the
EyeTV Preferences
.
Upgrading from EyeTV 2 to EyeTV 3
If you are using
EyeTV 2
, then when
TitanTV
service ends,
TV Guide
data will not be available.
EyeTV 3.1
and above is needed to download use
TV Guide
data, and to use the new features it enables, like
Smart Series Guides
.
All
EyeTV 2
users are encouraged to upgrade to
EyeTV 3
- our Online Store offers a special discounted price for that.
Purchase the discounted
EyeTV 3 Upgrade Version
, and then during the
EyeTV Setup Assistant
you should enter both your older
EyeTV 2
key, and the newer
EyeTV 3
key that we will send you.
Transferring from TitanTV to TV Guide
To sign up for a
TV Guide
account, please run the
EyeTV Setup Assistant
, and create your
TV Guide
account when prompted.
Ideally, you should use the
Auto Tune
function again - at the end, you will be able to download your new
Channel Lineup
for your zip code or postal code.
This process will clear your older
TitanTV
guide database, and the download of the new
TV Guide
data will begin. To take advantage of the new
Smart Series Guide
feature, wait for the download to complete.
One year of EPG service is included for new and all existing
EyeTV 3
users in the United States and Canada. After that, an additional year of service is available for US$ 19.95.
Managing Unused TV Guide Accounts
If you're already an EyeTV 3 user, and you signed up for a TV Guide account over a year ago, but never used it, then the first free year may already have expired.
You can purchase the
TV Guide Data Service Renewal For the EyeTV Program Guide
from our Online Store, to active your account again.
You can also contact Elgato Support via
http://tickets.kb.elgato.com
, if you feel your case has special circumstances that we should consider.
ATSC and XMLTV Guides
EyeTV 3
allows users to capture guide data from some TV signals, like Digital TV over antenna (
ATSC
).
1) Open the
EyeTV Programs
window
2) Make sure that each channel in your
EyeTV Programs
window is set to use
ATSC
as the
EPG
3) Switch to the Program Guide section of the
EyeTV Programs
window
4) Use the
Action
menu at the top left of the window (a small icon that looks like a gear or wheel), to select
Update ATSC Program Guide
Interested users can also use
XMLTV
services with
EyeTV
:
1) Acquire the
XMLTV
file from your guide service of choice. Often, that file may have a fee or paid subscription associated with it.
2) Drag the
XML
file to the
EyeTV
icon on the Dock,
3) Make sure that each channel in your
EyeTV Programs
window is set to use
XMLTV
as the
EPG
You will have to manually update the
ATSC
or
XMLTV
guides -
EyeTV
can't do it automatically for you.
