 EyeTV 3.5.3 is now available
Solution

Installation

This release is now available from the EyeTV menu > Check For Updates.

The build number at the time of release is 3.5.3 (6736).

If that doesn't work, then while EyeTV 3 is running, please open this link in a web browser:

eyetv://checkforupdates?build=6736

That will download EyeTV 3.5.3 (build 6736).

OS X 10.7 Lion Support

The EyeTV 3.5.3 update has been tested with all beta and "Golden Master" (GM) versions of OS X 10.7 Lion.  It should work as expected when the final version of Lion is released by Apple.

What's new in EyeTV 3.5.3?

Enhancements for the Tivizen Mobile TV Tuner for DTT

Home Network Mode

Tivizen
now features a Home Network Mode option to integrate into your existing Wi-Fi network. Use Tivizen in your existing Wi-Fi network rather than using the hotspot that Tivizen creates on its own. This enables you to stay connected to the Internet and watch TV at the same time. If you are on the road, and Tivizen does not find any of the stored home networks, it will switch into the regular hotspot mode. When you return home and switch on Tivizen, it will automatically join the last used home network.

USB Mode

In USB Mode, you can connect Tivizen to a Mac or a PC and use it as a conventional USB TV tuner. Tivizen’s Wi-Fi network capability remains available when not connected via USB.

When enabling either Home Network Mode or USB Mode, Tivizen will update its firmware. Follow the instructions on screen, then wait about 30 seconds until the Tivizen hardware has restarted.
See below for further details.

Before enabling USB Mode, please disconnect Tivizen from your Mac or PC. Now, connect to Tivizen via its Wi-Fi network. Check the USB Mode box in the EyeTV Preferences > Devices > Tivizen > Network settings:

Now connect the USB cable. The first time you enable USB mode, your Mac will show this dialog:

Confirm the new USB network interface and click Apply, then close Network preferences. Wait about 30 seconds. Your Tivizen device is now ready to be used as a USB tuner with EyeTV for Mac (or THC for Windows.)

NOTE: While USB mode is enabled, when Tivizen is connected to your Mac or PC, it will not be reachable via Wi-Fi.

If the above dialog does not appear, you may have to add the Tivizen USB network interface manually by clicking the + button in the lower left corner, selecting the interface that begins with Tivizen Mobile TV USB, and click Apply.

Home Network Mode

To enable Home Network Mode, connect to Tivizen via its Wi-Fi network. Check the Enable Home Network Mode box in the EyeTV Preferences > Devices > Tivizen > Network settings.

Now, select the Configure button, then add your Wi-Fi network from the popup menu.

After selecting your nearby network select OK, enter its password (if prompted) and confirm that you want to switch to the chosen network.

Note: if you want to use a network with invisible SSID, you will need to select Other... instead of the name of a network and then enter the name (SSID) of the network:

Finally, switch the Wi-Fi network of your computer away from Tivizen’s own Wi-Fi network to the network you selected above. Tivizen is now available to all your computers and iOS devices in your Wi-Fi network. If your Wi-Fi network is bridged to Ethernet, you can even use Tivizen via that connection. If you are on the road, and Tivizen does not find any of the stored home networks, it will switch into the regular hotspot mode. When you return home and switch on Tivizen, it will automatically join the last used home network.

Bug Fixes

General

• A problem with Cinergy Piranha hardware has been resolved.

• EyeTV now properly scans for the BBC HD transponder on DVB-S2.

• Improved UI, stability and overall performance.

Supported Systems

EyeTV 3.5.3 and all future EyeTV updates are only available for Mac computers with an Intel processor.

Power PC processors are no longer supported
for future software updates.

EyeTV 3.5.3
will work on an Intel Mac with OS 10.5.8 or higher. However, we recommend Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later with all software and security updates installed.

Installation

If this is the first time you have launched any version of EyeTV 3, you will be asked to enter the EyeTV 3 activation key. If you purchased an EyeTV 3 Upgrade product, EyeTV 3 will check whether an EyeTV 2 installation is present on your hard drive. If EyeTV 3 cannot find a previous EyeTV 2 installation, it will ask you to enter an eligible EyeTV 2 activation key, as well.

Keep all EyeTV activation keys in a safe place, in case you need to reinstall the EyeTV software. Your activation key is also used to activate and identify your Electronic Program Guide account (see below).

After you activate EyeTV, the EyeTV Setup Assistant will guide you through the complete setup and configuration of EyeTV 3. You should complete each step of the EyeTV Setup Assistant. When prompted, please select your country and let EyeTV auto-tune for channels — this is necessary to ensure the correct initial setup of the built-in Electronic Programming Guide (EPG).
