Solution A few EyeTV Hybrid users have noticed a "Device Could Not Be Initialized" message after they installed EyeTV 3.5.4.

Moving to
EyeTV 3.5.4 (6786) resolved their problem.  This is a newer version of EyeTV 3.5.4, released with a few extra fixes.



Standard "Device Could Not Be Initialized" Troubleshooting


If you see the
"Device Could Not Be Initialized" message, you should first try some standard troubleshooting steps:

Status Message: Device Could Not Be Initialized

If those steps don't help, then please update to
EyeTV 3.5.4 (6786).



How To Change To EyeTV 3.5.4 (6786)



If you need to move to EyeTV 3.5.4 (6786), then t
his release is now available from the EyeTV menu > Check For Updates.

If that doesn't work, then while EyeTV 3 is running, please open this link in a web browser:

eyetv://checkforupdates?build=6786

That will download EyeTV 3.5.4 (build 6786), the updated version of EyeTV 3.5.4 that fixes this problem.
