 What is a SSD drive?
Solution Solid State Drives (SSDs) are a modern replacement for traditional, magnetic hard drives.

The old standard uses a spinning platter and a rapidly moving read/write head.

SSDs don't use moving, mechanical parts, and instead rely on solid state flash memory chips to store information. They are far less prone to accidental damage than traditional hard drives.

They are also:

• Silent
• Less susceptible to physical shock
• Have lower latency
• Have lower access times

Even better, the Elgato Thunderbolt™ SSD uses a rock-solid metal enclosure, guaranteeing not only good looks, but also added protection for your valuable data.
