Solution Elgato Thunderbolt™ SSD has the unique strength of being bus-powered - it gets all of the power it needs from the Thunderbolt™ interface. That makes it highly portable and easy to use.

However, being bus-powered means that adding extra Thunderbolt™ ports is not possible.

Bus-powered devices can only offer one Thunderbolt™ connector, due to power issues.

For a device to offer two Thunderbolt™ ports, a minimum power needs to be made available to each port at all times, for daisy-chaining.   Such power levels cannot be offered by one bus-powered connection.
