I can't get EyeTV to work. Where do I start?
Solution The usual procedure for getting EyeTV to work is the following:

1. Install EyeTV by dragging the application from the CD that came with your unit (or from a disk image downloaded from our website) to your computer.

2. Hook up your video source to the EyeTV unit. If you're using cable, usually you'll use the RF/Coaxial input. If your using a VCR or DVD player, usually you'll use the A/V inputs : composite (yellow), S-Video, and red and white cables for audio.

3. If you use a cable box to view your image, then route your signal through it first, before you hook it up to EyeTV. You'll then need to change channels by using your cable box, not EyeTV.

4. Hook the USB or FireWire cable from EyeTV either directly to your Mac, or to a powered USB or FireWire hub with a minimum of other devices attached. If EyeTV doesn't get enough power or bandwidth over the USB or FireWire bus, instability can occur.

5. Run the EyeTV Setup Assistant. Make sure to select the correct input (cable, antenna, composite, S-Video) and to run the Auto-Tune process. Do any channels appear when you Auto-Tune? If the Setup Assistant doesn't appear, you can access it from EyeTV's Help menu.

6. After the Setup Assistant finishes, what happens? Not all EyeTV units have lights on them, but if yours does, what are the states of the lights on the EyeTV unit? Does an image appear in the LiveTV window? Can you change channels? If the setup doesn't work, contact us with the answers to the above questions.
